The Perfect Girl’s Getaway Insider: 2 Days in Somasila & More

A Much-Needed Getaway for the Spirit

There’s a kind of magic that happens when women pause together to step out of their routines, breathe, and reconnect. This two-day escape to Somasila, nestled along the serene Krishna River, wasn’t a bucket list check-off. Sometimes, the soul needs more than rest; it needs reconnection, and this getaway offered exactly that.

Day 1: When the Road Feels Like a Reset

We left Hyderabad before sunrise, the city still half-asleep, and the car brimming with laughter, music, and bags packed with nothing but essentials and expectations. First stop? A cozy highway breakfast at Taaza Kitchen, setting the tone with piping hot south indian breakfast and fresh green tea.

Then came the unexpected blessing of the day, Maisigandi Maisamma Temple at Kadthal. We hadn’t planned it, but when we saw the roadside shrine, we instinctively stopped. The air felt fierce, protective, like a shield of divine feminine energy watching over travelers.

Our excitement grew as the landscape began to change to lush greenery all around and winding roads. By afternoon, we reached our serene resort in Somasila. The lakefront rooms opened to breathtaking Krishna River views. The view from the bed through wide glass balcony doors felt like a living postcard.

That evening, we drifted on a boat across the river, bathed in golden hour light, saying everything and nothing all at once. It wasn’t sightseeing; it was soul-seeing. Though we missed the chance to see the Sangameshwara Temple, submerged beneath the Krishna’s waters, hearing about it from locals was mystical in itself. This temple only reveals itself when the river recedes. Some temples, like some truths, show up only when you’re ready.

We visited the Lalitha Someshwara Jyothirlinga Temple, an ancient and deeply meditative space where time seemed to stand still. It grounded us after a day of travel and noise; this was the kind of silence that speaks.

Lit diyas glowing in the evening, symbolizing peace and spiritual energy

As the sun began to set on our first evening in Somasila, we gathered together to participate in a beautiful ritual, holding small lit diyas in hand, we made our way to the banks of the Krishna River. The soft glow of the diyas danced in the twilight, reflecting our hopes, dreams, and gratitude. In a moment of silent reflection, we placed the diyas on the water’s surface, watching them float away.

Each light symbolizes a wish or intention released into the universe. It felt like an offering, a way to honor the journey we had taken together, both as individuals and as a collective. With the gentle sound of water lapping against the shore and a serene stillness surrounding us, we felt an overwhelming sense of peace. As the lights flickered and drifted downstream, this act of releasing our diyas became a poignant reminder of the bonds we had formed and the spiritual nourishment we had found in our shared experience.

Day 2: Temples That Speak in Stillness

After waking up to a beautiful sunrise and enjoying breakfast at the resort, we went to Singotam. The Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple was calm and wise, a place where just sitting felt like meditation. Then came the Singotam Ammavaru Temple, perched on a hill. Her elevation is not just physical but symbolic. Legend says the goddess chose to be above the flood lines and worldly noise, so only those truly seeking her would make the climb. That climb felt worth every step.

We ended our journey with a visit to Gadwal, where tradition is woven into every saree. Some of us took home silks, others memories, but all of it wrapped in nostalgia and warmth.

Why Getaways Like These Matter?

In a world that seems to be moving faster every day, spending time with women who resonate with your energy is a necessity. This getaway reminded us of the joy of simply being together as women, feeling free, light, and alive. Often, the most profound healing occurs in the simplest of moments.

The First of Many..

This getaway felt like the beginning of something. For many of us, it had been years since we made space for ourselves like this. Years since we chose slow roads over deadlines, temples over to-do lists, and conversations that didn’t revolve around responsibilities.  We hope it’s the first of many.

From weekend getaways to temple trails, maybe even boarding flights together shortly as we slowly rewrite how joy shows up in our lives. One soulful escape at a time.
